Where is F1 testing 2025 taking place?

F1 Testing occurs at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, as the Bahrain Grand Prix shifts from being the season opener to Round 4, scheduled for April 11-13.

This 5.412km track's long straights and varied corner speeds mimic regular season conditions, while Bahrain's consistent dry weather reduces rain disruptions. Built in 2002, it hosted its first Grand Prix in 2004, dominated by Ferrari's Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello. Sakhir is known for exciting races and is considered one of the best overtaking tracks in F1.

F1 testing format

Since unlimited F1 testing was prohibited in 2009, pre-season track sessions have become strictly regulated, providing equal driving time and conditions for all teams and drivers.

Each team is allocated a total of 24 hours of testing over the three days in Bahrain, and they are permitted to run only one car at a time.

All 20 confirmed F1 drivers for the 2025 season will take part in the Bahrain testing. The two race drivers from each team will divide the available time, and some teams might choose to use a reserve or development driver instead of their main season participant.
